Hello everyone!
I (Geneva U.) am so nervous, excited, and honored to be making my very first post on a real-life blog! I don’t know how other people feel when they embark on their first blogging adventure, but I know for me personally, I’m experiencing high levels of disbelief. I never thought I’d live to see this day! 😊
For the last couple of years, I’ve looked at other people’s blogs through eyes of awe, thinking: “All of this stuff is INCREDIBLE! I love this whole blogging thing, but it’s TOTALLY not for me!” In my opinion, quality blogging required far more creativity, motivation, discipline, and humility than I could possibly possess. A good blog had to be a Christ-centered blog, and I didn’t think that I had the strength to display all the better parts of my life for the sole purpose of honoring Christ. So, I opted out for the more “simple” option and completely ruled myself out as a potential blogger.
So why the change, you ask? Well, the main reason I’m writing this post right now is because of Hadassah, the founder of JoyfullyYou. When she asked me to be a part of this community blog, I was very hesitant for the reasons mentioned above (plus, my busy schedule). However, Hadassah helped me to see that despite my imperfections, I can still make blogging an offering to the Lord. I can blog because I have a genuine desire to bless my dear friend. Also, through this experience, I can work towards conquering my fear of doing something imperfectly.
In the words of one of my favorite writers and theologians, G.K. Chesterton: “Anything worth doing is worth doing badly.” This quote doesn’t mean that it’s okay to do a bad job. It means that when you know something is inherently good, it’s better to do it imperfectly than to not do it at all.
And so, I’m going to try not to sit around worrying about everything I could have done better. Instead, I’m going to do what I can and let God do the rest! It’s up to Him whether anyone is inspired by anything I write! I’m grateful for this opportunity and excited to see where it leads!
Have you ever done something you never thought you could do?
If you are a blogger, how did you feel when you were first starting out?
What inspired you to begin blogging?
Love in Christ,
Geneva U.
