I’ve read a lot of good books this year, but there’s been times in between them that I’ve been searching everywhere FOR them! I (Hadassah) wanted to give y’all some of my favorite thought-provokers and books that I poured through this past year. I know how hard it can be to find good ones out there!
(*note: all thoughts are just my own- you’ll have to decide for yourselves on what you pull out of these books! 😉 )
I read this one last summer, after I heard my calling about being a missionary (read that post here) and loved the book so much. I re-read it several times this year and I loved it even more! I am currently reading Elizabeth’s other book, “When God Says Wait,” and loving that one too! She is an awesome writer, and I love her takes on some of the small Biblical stories.
I recently found Lysa Terkeurst and loved this one by her! Though it’s written for mothers and more for adults, I got some really neat brain-thinkers (is that a word?) out of it. I love Lysa’s one-on-one writing skill!
‘Kay, so this one’s AMAZING! And I’ve read it quite a few times already! It completely makes you stop and think on how much we need to stop focusing on ourselves, our lives, our wants, our needs… and just spend more time focusing on JESUS!
FICTION- – BUT STILL THOUGHT-PROVOKING
And yes! This series is fiction, but sooo good and sooo clean! I just couldn’t put this series down over the summer! The main character is a Christian girl with many different struggles in faith, relationships, and family- and the whole story of freeing slaves is really cool to read- though I know it’s fiction, things like this really happened. I could not wait to read the last one… and then I was sad that it was over! Haha, readers like me will get that! 😉 Definitely a recommended series! It is more on a middle-school/early high school reading level, so not a hard read at all.
What’s one of your favs that you’ve read this year?
