Favorite 2019 Reads (so far)

I’ve read a lot of good books this year, but there’s been times in between them that I’ve been searching everywhere FOR them! I (Hadassah) wanted to give y’all some of my favorite thought-provokers and books that I poured through this past year. I know how hard it can be to find good ones out there!

(*note: all thoughts are just my own- you’ll have to decide for yourselves on what you pull out of these books! 😉 )

I read this one last summer, after I heard my calling about being a missionary (read that post here) and loved the book so much. I re-read it several times this year and I loved it even more! I am currently reading Elizabeth’s other book, “When God Says Wait,” and loving that one too! She is an awesome writer, and I love her takes on some of the small Biblical stories.

I recently found Lysa Terkeurst and loved this one by her! Though it’s written for mothers and more for adults, I got some really neat brain-thinkers (is that a word?) out of it. I love Lysa’s one-on-one writing skill!

‘Kay, so this one’s AMAZING! And I’ve read it quite a few times already! It completely makes you stop and think on how much we need to stop focusing on ourselves, our lives, our wants, our needs… and just spend more time focusing on JESUS!

And yes! This series is fiction, but sooo good and sooo clean! I just couldn’t put this series down over the summer! The main character is a Christian girl with many different struggles in faith, relationships, and family- and the whole story of freeing slaves is really cool to read- though I know it’s fiction, things like this really happened. I could not wait to read the last one… and then I was sad that it was over! Haha, readers like me will get that! 😉 Definitely a recommended series! It is more on a middle-school/early high school reading level, so not a hard read at all.

What’s one of your favs that you’ve read this year?

In Christ,

I read that last book series about 5 years ago and loved it! And I must admit I have picked it up a time or two since then! Have you ever read the “Millie Keith a Life of Faith” book series? Definitely some parts that are pretty intense, but overall very good stories. (One or two pretty graphic parts though) I always love seeing the books that other girls are reading!

Yes! I have read the Millie Keith series, and loved it! I haven’t read them in a while, but I remember pouring over them and reading them very quickly, haha! 🙂
I also enjoyed most of the Elsie Dinsmore books as well. Thanks for your comment, Annie!

Oooh, I’m going to have to check those books!! I’m always looking for more books to bookmark (my never-ending list). 😅 Earlier this year, I read “Speak Love” by Annie F. Downs. I enjoyed the Biblical prescriptive she brought about using your words carefully and her stories were quite humorous. Definitely a good read!

Rachael Denhollander’s memoir on taking down Larry Nassar. She points out so many challenges that the church puts before victims of abuse.

Asking me if I like reading is like asking me if I like breathing! Having a girly Christian place to be recommended books is AWESOME! I will definitely try those Hadassah!
